Texas State Prayer Breakfast

The Texas State Prayer Breakfast was held at the Double Tree Hotel in Austin on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.  Texas Governor Rick Perry, Attorney General, Greg Abbott, solider's from Ft. Hood, and a host of elected officials were present.  The Austin Celtic Drum Core performed, and Dr. Mark Jones provided very inspired vocals. Governor Perry went through a field picking daisies as he reflected on maturity in our prayer lives.  The featured speaker was Florence Littauer.  Now Florence can tell a story!  If you get the chance to hear her speak, go!  This year's program was very inspiring, and we saw many old friends and made many new ones. www.ndpaustin.org

NATIONAL DAY of PRAYER

The National Day of Prayer is always on the first Thursday of May.  This year it fell on May 1st (2008).  The U.S. President issued his annual proclamation regarding this event.  The Governor did as well.  On Thursday, April 17th, City of Hutto Mayor, Ken Love issued a National Day of Prayer Proclamation for Hutto Citizens.  All of them are inspiring, so please take the time to read them, as well as a history 1777 Thanksgiving Prayer issued by the Continental Congress.

We hosted two events in Hutto, and the sanctuary at Hutto Discovery UMC was open for several hours throughout the day.  We were very blessed by the support for the events, as you can tell from below.

The Come & Go Prayer Breakfast held at the Old Hutto Co-op.  In the pre-dawn and morning hours we set-up two tents along side of U.S. Hwy 79 in Hutto.  A men's accountability group from Hill Country Bible was there at 6 am sharp.  They were quickly followed by Clare Albers with the FCA group of Hutto High School.  Coach Buch showed up soon afterward.  Many people dropped in just seeing us along side the highway.  One man was grateful to see our first amendment rights being exercised.  Pastor Rick King (www.hogwildforjesus.com) visited, as did local Hutto pastors and ministers, Mike Crow, Michael Roepke, James McGilveary and Tommy Ham.  Pastor Carol Crowder helped setup the event..

A husband in need of healing and guidance came by.  Two mothers with sick sons stopped in.  A corporate manager facing a touch day sat and prayed and asked for God help.  A Mexican immigrant in need of work stopped by.  Overall forty-one people came and went.

Thanks to Dede Bullock and Rob Coker for helping with the entire event. Thanks to Guthrie's Cleaner, Mario's Mexican Restaurant, Hardeman Signs, and Wag-A-Bag for their provisions to aid the event.

A High Noon Prayer Circle formed at Hutto City Hall.  City employees, Hutto citizens, pastors, businessmen, and the Mayor came together to pray for Hutto.  The Police Chief was presented with a book of quotations for being a "good instigator" in our city.  We prayed for the Freedom Seven : Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church & Family.  There were 23 people in attendance.

Hutto Discovery United Methodist Church opened their sanctuary for prayer throughout the day.  You really need to go visit this church.  The restored sanctuary is very well done, it's is very unique in design, and the spiritual heritage is inspiring.  It's located at 350 Ed Schmidt Blvd (CR 119) , behind Home Depot. www.huttodiscovery.org

The FCA also held a prayer circle in the Hutto High courtyard @ 7:30 am. I only regret that we didn't take any pictures on the blessed day. Praise God that He hears us and see us!
